The charm of Pisciotta between ancient seafaring habits and the production of quality olive oil, an unmissable destination in Cilento.
Pisciotta is an enchanting town located on the Cilento coast, which offers a perfect combination between the charm of its medieval village and the beauty of the crystal clear sea. Known for the production of high quality olive oil, here you can enjoy spectacular views of the lush olive groves that surround the town. Of the medieval village that gathers around Palazzo Ciaccio, the church of SS. Peter and Paul. A panoramic road east of the town leads towards Marina di Pisciotta, an important seaside resort where the ancient fishing for anchovies is still practiced today with the menaica, a large mesh net left adrift which allows the selection of fish and a particular processing. The result is more delicate and tasty meat. Interested tourists can watch night fishing, try fresh and salted anchovies in typical local restaurants and buy them from fishing families.

Pisciotta: what to do and what to see
Pisciotta is an ancient village on the coast of the province of Salerno. The historic center is dotted with narrow streets, noble palaces and churches, including that of San Michele Arcangelo and the Madonna della Mercede. The squares (we highlight the Piazzetta del Cannone, which offers a spectacular view of the roofs of the houses, the olive trees and the sea) offer spectacular views of the city and the sea, while the Marina di Pisciotta is renowned for its its crystal clear waters and pebble beach. The place is also an ideal starting point for excursions and trekking in the Cilento National Park, Vallo di Diano and Alburni. One of the most popular hiking trails in Pisciotta is the Sentiero del Castelluccio, which crosses the territories of Rodio, Pisciotta and Caprioli. The route can be challenging, particularly the longest version which measures over 10 kilometers with over 500 meters of altitude difference, reaching the summit of Castelluccio at 701 meters above sea level. However, the spectacular view of the Cilento coast and surrounding mountains is definitely worth it. Finally, we recommend visiting the Sanctuary of Sant'Agnello Abate, an ancient and important church located in Rodio, a hamlet of the municipality of Pisciotta. Its thousand-year history dates back to more than 500 years ago, when the cult of Sant'Agnello Abate began to spread in the region. In 2009, the church was elevated to a sanctuary, thus recognizing its spiritual and cultural importance for the local community.
